I bought a South Dakota-made Trail-Rite stock trailer years ago (wish I
still had it, tracked exactly with my truck) that the title said weighed
something over 4000 lb. It was only 16 ft. but all steel. Got curious one day,
went to the local truck stop and weighed truck and trailer, then came back later
and weighed just the truck. Conclusion: trailer weighed over 7000 lb. The
factory obviously weighs only the trailer while attached to a tow vehicle.
