Re: [RC] Linda's back pain - Bruce Weary DCHi Linda--I'm sorry that your SI pain is returning. The odds are with you, due to the cyclic nature of pain associated with ankylosing spondylitis, that it will calm down again eventually. You are probably not a candidate for manipulation during these flare-ups. The inflammatory process going on in the joints will be aggravated by forceful movement. Manipulation is so good for so many people so much of the time, but there are clearly times not to use it. Your liver panel may be abnormal due to the effects of the meds you take for your pain, as the liver is working harder to detoxify the blood, and its chemical "exhaust" may change as a result. I know you will get it checked, and hopefully that will be the case. Unfortunately, AS is a lifelong affliction, with cyclic return of pain and inflammation. But, you have been dealing with it successfully for a long time now, and have that success to draw on when dealing with it in the future. Better than being a beginner and not knowing what to expect. Staying active to your tolerance, and having goals for your mind to feed on are essential. Try the vitamin D and Wobenzyme. You might get lucky and get some relief. I pity the Tevis trail when it meets up with the likes of a determined person like you someday.
