Thank you so much, to everyone that has expressed
their concerns and well wishes. This is a huge storm, it will be causing
flooding well inland from the rain that it's bound to be carrying. We went
through Hurricane Carla in 1961 that was a huge storm but I think this one will
be worse because of more buildings, and land subsidence in the intervening
years.
Still haven't heard from my *stubborn* mother - I
think she may be stuck in the horrific traffic. At least there's still a
couple of more days before Rita hits land.

Positive Thoughts, Texas evacuation
Oh Chris, I hope they got out. I called
the League City evacuation control center early this morning, they told me
they were expecting the entire area to be under water, and to keep urging my
mother to leave (which of course I did). Expecting a 20-25
foot storm surge.

Ditto. Prayers going up Carla. I'd like some prayers too for a
dear friend and horse. Her name is Melissa. She lives with her SO Jim and
three horses, Naja, Mickey and Athena in League city. I've called her
house twice today and got no answer, so I hope they have al evacuated. She
bought Athena from me as a weanling and has raised her to a gorgeous 4YO
mare.
I'm storming heaven for prayers for their safety.
