My personal feeling about that is,
this is a RO, maybe RO-M.
I think a problem with pull codes
is, people working the ride watch what's going on all day, and hear what's going
on all day. I suspect someone knew she started belly aching, and the pull was
attributed to that based on what they thought was good info, but was only part
of the story.
If people are really concerned
about what their pull code is, just make sure you see the RM, timer, or whomever
write down the correct pull code then & there. It may be hard to change once
it's written and turned in.
BY THE WAY a year ago AERC asked
for input into disposition of pulled rider cards. I said, fine collect the info,
but give me my card [that's the least I can get for my $$ and the disappointment
of a pull]. Now you can't get them back no way no how. This really pisses me
off.
Here's a question regarding R.O. pulls. Recently my mare coliced a
few miles from the end of a ride. We pulled her saddle and walked her
and in about 10 minutes her heart rate was at 32 and stayed there. She
showed no more pain. The lady riding with me headed for camp to get a
vet and I started walking my mare up the hill to the next road. We were
able to put the saddle back on her and she was fine with it. I would not
ride her. As far as I was concerned she was pulled from the ride.
When the vet arrived at the next road she pronounced her fit to
continue. I rode back to camp with the ride manager and some other
people led my mare back to camp. She arrived in camp and dropped to 32
almost immediately. I pulled her - R.O. because vet said I could have
continued. So her record should read RO-M. Instead it reads as a
metabolic pull. I plan to question it but in the meantime how would
others have done this. There was no way I would have ridden her.
She didn't need a ride as she was fit to continue. Her colic was unknown
causes. Vet said maybe she was coming in heat but by the end of the next
day she showed swelling in her face from the corners of her mouth to her cheek
bones. She got into something she was alergic to. So, is this a
true rider option - m. or what?
