Re: [RC] [RC] Horsepool for the Alabama Yellowhammer ride? -REVISED - Linda NicholsTitle: Re: [RC] [RC] Horsepool for the Alabama Yellowhammer ride? - REVISED Jody, may I offer my condolences to you. I have a daughter, now an adult, who still lags in self motivation. My other one just left for college, a very competent problem solver and really self motivated. My only advice is, leave her alone. If she can’t do it for herself then she doesn’t get to do it. It will take immense courage on your part to watch her flounder around and suffer. God knows I am too easy on my kid. The only way they will learn to be self motivated is to wait until they really want it for themselves. If your daughter won’t do what she can, leave her at home. If she wants to come, she has to do for herself. Believe me, it is hard to let kids struggle. But it is so necessary for their character.Linda On 9/20/05 9:29 AM, "Jody Rogers-Buttram" <dragnin100@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Ok. Knew I did something wrong. I have a jr. and she is 11. Should be just the right age to make for a good little slave...wrong !!!! They won't work for MAMMA. I sent her to horse camp this summer, worked like a dog for 2 weeks. Cleaned stalls, cleaned tack, carried water.... went to a 2-day ride last weekend, just her and me....it was a fight the whole time just to get her to halfway do things at the vetchecks. She is sooo used to Daddy being there to do for her. I know, I messed up somewhere along the line, but I am the kind of person that if we are in a time pinch, just get out of the way and I can do it faster and better. So, I suppose I am paying for it now.
