[RC] liability and neighborhood kids? - Equine Law OnlineAs a lawyerly type, the answer to this question is complicated. My book, Equine Liability, has four different chapters that apply: children, releases, equine liability acts, and insurance. They all play a part in this equation. Short answer is insurance, lots and lots of insurance. If you have a release, both parents need to sign. A clause saying that the parents will indemnify you is probably against public policy, but is a great way to scare of parents that are likely to sue. Best defense with children is assumption of risk.
