RE: [RC] CRI question - heidiOk, someone tried explaining this to me once, but I'm not sure exactly how this works with the numbers. I remember at Renegade Ash had a great CRI, but can't remember the numbers, this time at the Dunes, he was 40/40. Shouldn't the second number be lower and if it's not, does that indicate something? A 40 pulse is well within the normal range. If a horse has recovered to normal and the trot-out does not raise his pulse, that's perfectly wonderful. A 40/40 CRI is excellent. If the horse had recently come in and was just being presented to the vet, then one might expect a first pulse still on a recovery curve (say, in the 50s) and the second to be a bit lower. (Eg a 56/52 would be a good sign.) But once a horse is in the 40s, there isn't any significance if he doesn't go any lower....
