[RC] Aussie saddles - Dawn Simas

I have both a "traditional stock saddle" from Aus, a Syd Hill, that I bought from Colin in the 80's.  And I now have a "hybrid" more modern type that he designed two years ago (called a Southern Cross endurance).  The traditional stock saddles indeed have the stirrups hanging more forward, and could cause a "chair seat".  They ride with the feet far forward, and when trotting/galloping, their whole body is in a very forward, almost jockey like position over the horse.  Watch Man From Snowy River for a great example of how they ride.  :)  The newer models that Colin (and others) are making have more skirting to distribute the weight and the stirrups are hung in the dressage position.  I really like both my saddles, but they are very different.
