if you rode the GERA ride,  it didnt matter what horse you rode, it 
was in heat!   do you realize how hot it was there?   


I do. The amazing thing was that so far as I know, not one horse required
treament. Surprising number of lame horses...but then the forest service
there *does* love their gravel. :-( I know at least one of the 25 milers
I saw that didn't come down was lame and had rubs from bellboots that
probably had quite a bit to do with it not coming down.  From what I
could see, the riders were definately in "survival mode" and rode very
much with the weather in mind.
