RE: [RC] Brenderup trailers and 4Runner truck - heidiHow much different is the hauling in Europe? I can't imagine hauling the mountains/distances that I haul with a small vehicle and light trailer. I can only speak from experiences in Denmark and Germany. The majority of riders came to rides with lightweight trailers like Brenderups, pulled by good-quality cars. Then they camped in tents. A few came in large horse vans. A part of the difference is terrain--they do not encounter the sorts of mountains we have in the western USA, for the most part. They also do not often encounter the rough back roads that many of us drive. And their fuel prices are 3-4x what ours are. Given that set of circumstances, one can see why their horse hauling has gone a somewhat different direction from ours. I would still be leery of doing some of the hauling that I do with that sort of a rig. Additionally, if one must haul multiple horses, the smaller trailers don't work. I'm frequently in that situation, but am probably in the minority--if I were in Europe, I'd need a horse van.
