Re: [RC] CTR thumbs down - Becky HuffmanI can sure see this from both sides. I did the same thing with my first endurance horse - blew her out by going to hard. but - I'm also one who doesn't care for CTR. I've ridden drag and been around it some, but I doubt I'll ever compete. I don't care for the structure. It is possible to learn while you ride endurance if you'll pay attention. There is plenty of education available that wasn't there years ago. -lots of people who are willing to help and online and print material. I like being responsible for myself and my horse. I've had some hard lessons - the main one being that above all things I need to ride my own ride and you can do that as easily in endurance as you can in CTR if you are willing to listen and watch and learn. Becky Huffman, Cleburne, Texas www.TheOriginalSeries.com "Don't forget your towel" It is often common for those new to the sport, who "race" right off the batin LD rides, to find later, that was probably not the best thing they couldhave done for their horses future in the sport of endurance.Boy, I wished someone would have told me this when I first started with an outstanding talented FAST mare 14 years ago. I didn't know anything about endurance riding. I took this mare out as a 5 year old and raced her. Winning LD's, I had a blast she was so fast and so fun to ride. To make a long story short she never was able to compete to her ability because I ruined her. I blew out her suspensories. I still have her, she is 19 and still fast and fun to ride, but she has long been 'retired' from endurance.
