Re: [RC] [RC] CTRs a thumbs down....I think - Deanna GermanSara wrote: Everyone says that I will learn good horsemanship by doing CTRs. Well, guess what!! I have good horsemanship now (thanks 4-H!!) so that argument is lame!!! I don't need to learn good horsemanship! I think I'm ok there!!! Believe it or not but people can acquire good horsemanship through other ways than riding CTRs (gasp)!!!!!! *grin* I really enjoyd Patti Stedman's recent articles regarding her prep for her first 100 in Endurance News. In her article about crew recruitment I think she said something to the effect of, "I rounded them all up and told them to forget everything they learned in 4H." Having had some exposure to what 4H kids are learning, I can add, "Ain't that the truth!" Sara, open your mind and you will be surprized what you learn and what you don't know. I've been hanging around distance riders of all kinds for over 20 years and have decided that it was the best way to learn about horsemanship. Learning about good horsemanship never ends. Technologies change. New research becomes available. Distance riders really do generally know more about taking care of their horses than riders from any other background. :-) Deanna =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
