I use a toklat woolback pad.  When we do rides in the winter it doesn't 
happen.  Have you washed your pad recently with any kind of soap, or have 
you applied anything to your horses back, like fly spray?  When I wash my 
pads sometimes I will use a cup of baking soda, then I will run them thru 
the wash a couple more times with no soap.

I've tried other pads, but have never liked any of them as much as my 
toklats.  They have always worked so well, that I'm afraid to change.
