My horse is 27 this year and was rode by an Tia Williams a 12-year-old young lady that just adores him. On the Big Horn 100 trail, he fell down. No one knows how or why. Somehow Tia was thrown clear. He was flat on his side and riders behind him were worried he had had a heartattack, due to his age. Instead, he jumped up, shook and looked at Tia like, "What's the hold-up!" Tia jumped back on and they went on to finish the 55! All the riders behind them said they were just "spunky!" Never underestimate older horses! Even really OLD horses still have a ton to give.
My daughters 20 yo Arab gelding loves to challenge his pasture mates (12+ years younger than him) to races. He is also a handful on the trails, not misbehaved just lots of get up and go. He keeps up with my 7 yo qh/arab with no problems at all. -- Jessica Spoone-Raines "Never take life too seriously..........Nobody gets out alive anyway."
