Re: [RC] Fractured Tibia - Bruce WearyNancy--Like so many things in life, it's better to do it right the first time and not risk complications or delays in recovery. Most people understand fracture healing to be from 6-8 weeks. This is only partially true. The fibrous matrix of the bone may be essentially restored in that time frame, but further healing, mineralization, remodeling and strengthening occur for weeks and months after the cast is removed. A gradual return to activity of increasing demand under the guidance of your orthopedist is always wise. Meanwhile, extra vitamin D, magnesium and calcium (citrate) is helpful. I wouldn't sit around and eat bon-bons, but it's a good time to catch up on the shenanigans on "The Young and the Restless." And if you can't stand the inactivity and decide you just have to go "postal" I can send you the names and addresses of deserving individuals.....................
