Good to see an exercise scientist here.

In the paper cited I was more interested in the differences between carb/fat 
pre-race meals. And in the endurance horse, more interested in carb 
supplementation during exercise. with repeated supplementation at the rate of 
about 4 oz of a long chained sugar we see a gradual overall increase in plasma 
glucose throughout. Since the doses are so small, and the distance so long, it 
is hard to understand this rise other than due to gluconeogenesis.

Whenever I see the phrase "glycogen sparing" in relation to a high fat diet, I 
read it as "inhibits glycogen metabolism".

I've talked to Ken about his paper but as yet cannot get to it because of no 
university affiliation/database account. Asked him to send it to me last week.
