Re: [RC] Barbara's "glycogen loading" post - Barbara McCraryI will not reveal who did it. I do not defame people in public. I just remember that (name unrevealed) coached some riders in how to carbo-load their horses, and as I recall, some of the horses died. I don't know enough about it to go further, and I wouldn't if I did know. I'm sure there are others out there who remember the incident. I was merely adding to the conversation about whether horses could be treated and fed in the same manner as humans preparing for a major event. If, as you say, my post inhibits those who want to explore new concepts, please don't let it stop them. I don't dig deeply into science. I feed our horses the best quality hay I can find and ride for the enjoyment of the trail and camaraderie with the horses. I will always be your idea of a sub-standard horseman, because placing first is not my goal. I actually won a race once, and when I didn't hear any bells and whistles and didn't get an adrenalin rush, I decided winning wasn't what it was cracked up to be. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
