You and me both!  I carry stuff "just in case" and so far
have not had to use it myself.  It's gotten to the 
point where a few of my friends refuse to ride off
unless I go too as they have gotten lost before and 
I always carry a whistle, a compass, food, water,
emergency first aid, a snake bite kit, waterproof
matches, etc etc.
