[RC] re: tevis for the mechanically challanged - Mary KraussAs a fellow "darned if I didn't forget my cinch" type, I have one thought for the guy/gal who chided us for our personality: there's no such thing as an enabler, and, if you feel resentful helping someone not as blessed with organizational/coordination skills as yourself, then DON'T HELP!!!!"Enabler" is just a word for someone who cares enough to help a loved one (or a disorganized stranger) beyond what people are normally willing to do. I can't stand that word. I remember a friend telling me and my husband (a psychiatrist) that her counselor was angry with her for "enabling" her drug-addicted son by allowing him to return home when he hit rock bottom. I suppose it would have been better to let him live on the streets.... By the way, that same son is doing very well at present. Grrrr. I like people who like to help me. I also like helping other people. See, it all works. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
