[RC] Tevis scratches - JonniHank got the "Tevis scratches" too. But, they are not true scratches like I have dealt with in the past. Mostly just flakes and lifting scurf / skin on pasterns, but not the oozing weeping full blown scratches like they can get in the very wet weather, or at some of the rides with the alkali soil like in Nevada. I rubbed in the Eqyss gel, and already they look better. I guess it is fairly common for horses to get this "scurf" on the pasterns after Tevis. I had forgot to rub in the gel (or the wonderful Trail-Rite cream) as we finished on Sunday AM, and I bet he might not have gotten dry and flakey. I would guess it is from the soil and sweat.
