RE: [SPAM] [RC] Help!!!!!! Poop eating horse.... - heidi

I need help... I know foals will eat poop.... but what is a horse lacking
that does this... She is an Arab Mare...12 years old, no foal....Is on a
good grass hay for feed...

When horses do this, it isn't a SPECIFIC indicator as to what they're
missing--it just says that they are missing SOMETHING.

My first thought would be a mineral deficiency such as selenium, etc.
My second thought would be a protein deficiency--less likely, since you
say the grass hay is of good quality. (Foals will eat manure when they
are protein-deficient, because the microbes in the hindgut do actually
produce some protein.)
