Re: [SPAM] [RC] aerc rule book - Maggie MieskeOne year my sister continued to compete a mare we thought was open (she came back into heat after she was bred) and she was ridden regularly and even competed for the rest of the season through November and even ridden during the winter. She didn't start to "show" until the end of the year and we started wondering (though she continued to "show" heat often). Well, she was "showing" Malik she was interested but she was most definitely bred when she produced a foal in mid April of the following year. She was the healthiest she has ever been at that time! Easy delivery. What I don't get is why UMECRA will allow competitive horses to compete through 6 months of pregnancy but endurance mares not at all. Makes no sense. And besides, how could it be enforced? We didn't know she was bred til well after we had been competing her.
