[RC] Tevis scratches - Sherman

My grey has pink pasterns and what looks like slightly peely sunburn on his pink pasterns after Tevis.....going out now to put some zinc oxide on & hope it doesn't progress. Isn't this type of scratches caused from the acidity of the soil?
