[RC] re: Why they don't do 100s - Cindy CollinsI just want to tell you that if you have time to condition for a 50 miler, then you can do a 100 miler. I can't make you believe that, but it's true. And, for the second paragraph...you get triple points for doing a 100, so the risk is worth it if you are really into points. But, I'm amazed at all the people who think they are going to ruin their horse or cripple their horse or whatever crazy idea they have...doing a 100 miler, especially a mountain one. I see so many more horses looking badly in flat 50s. Most of the time, 100 mile horses look much better. It must be a mental thing with this generation of riders. I don't get it. Cindy You wouldn't want to pressure people into entering unprepared horses in 100s. I also think that, particularly in regions where there are rides just about every weekend, people get competitive for year-end awards and don't want to risk losing an entire weekend of points to try a 100 and fail. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
