[RC] 100 Mile One Day Rides - Betsy O'SheaI have been following this thread with interest, as a 100 mile ride has long been my goal. But I fear that age is catching up with me. Are there any older riders, in relatively good health, able to do their first 100 ,who are in the 60's and 70's. What kind of training, for the horse and rider, is necessary to achieve this goal.? I have a 5 year Anglo-Arab that I think will be able to do a 100. I am doing NATRC, 2 day (35 mile total) with him this year. (for long slow distance) Could he move up to slow 50's , or Open NATRC next year, and then a 100 the year after when he is 7 years old? Is this pushing him? I would be 70 years old when I would try a 100's. I have been riding since I have bee 8 years but only ride 2 or 3 times per week. Advice gratefully accepted.
