Re: [RC] [RC] Ice Water Please... - Val NicosonJust an update on the Ice vs Heated water situation at the barn. We checked the water temps and the big stock tank was 55 and the water buckets in the stalls were 65-70. In our area it gets cold enough that we use heaters to prevent the water from freezing solid so the horses get access to drinkable water...rather than licking ice. Am curious what others do that also live in northern climates who have herds that roam acres and acres? Have since bought timers so the heaters aren't constantly running and heating up the water. Didn't know that heated buckets would get the water so warm. Has anyone had any experience with heated water buckets causing fires or melting the bucket at all? Not that we have this problem but since it did warm the water so much am wondering. Usually the horses drink down their stall buckets enough that they are cleaned at least every other day. Thanks for the responses received from everyone. Val __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
