My favorite feed bins are old freezers. They are mouse-proof and horse 
resistant with a latch attached. Also are free to pick up at the dump. They 
also make good water tubs for mildly freezing winters. They don't freeze on the 
sides and bottom as they are insulated, and you only need to break ice on the 
top.
