Re: [RC] Rest stops - Jessica Spoone-RainesI have only loosely been folowing this thread but wanted to add my 2 cents. I have traveled from NC to MI and back several times with horses and have never had any problems stopping and unloading at rest areas. My standard practice for long hauling is summer time hauling at night so I'm normally in the rest stops from midnight to dawn. Almost nobody is around so it makes it easy to unload and hauling in the cooler nightime air seems to be easier on my babies. I have unloaded during the day but only if I completely trust the horse I am taking off. The 2 I generally have with me have been around pretty much everything, kids, cats, dogs, dirtbikes, etc and don't blink at it, they also load and unload "perfectly". The only time I have had anybody say anything to me about unloading them was a maintenance guy who told me if they "fertilized" I had better clean it up cause he wasn't. -- Jessica Spoone-Raines "Never take life too seriously..........Nobody gets out alive anyway." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
