RE: [RC] Southwest (Creede) Colorado - Rae Callaway
Is there a law that horses can’t use
a rest area?

That is how we have done it for years.....at the rest
areas. We never had a problem until one day, on the Al/GA line rest
area....bam !!! Busted. Just so happen that the guy that has this
for a job was there. So, we have been forced to use private property like
gas stations. Really, the truck stops are great for it. They have
diesel fuel and a big place out back that works well for the horses....and the
truckers are nicer than people at rest areas. It just gripes
me. :-(

I've gotten my horses out
at rest stops if I felt it was necessary...my
attitude is they gotta catch me. Maybe I'd end up in jail down south. But
I don't stay long. If I want to hang out a while, I find a gas station with
room out back or something...one of the out of the way exits and I've never
been refused time to get my horse out and wander a bit, especially in the
middle of the night. :)
