[RC] tort reform - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Diane Day fourdays@xxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== On the subject of tort reform - just to share a little info - my husband had a law suit that was settled by his ins company because it was cheaper than fighting it. He was not consulted about it and had no choice about it. There was no negligence on his part - as proven by a pre trial review with jurors who determined no fault. It was never an issue until we wanted to move; he couldnt get the job because of that history. The doc who wanted him has not been able to get anyone because nowadays its pretty darn hard to find someone who hasnt had a claim cast against him. ( they're even getting them in residency) In NM, docs who back up nurse midwives are losing their insurance despite any evidence to say the midwives are putting them at risk. We love obstetrics, but the legal intrusions are making many of us leave the profession. Without tort reform there will be big problems in health care - or should I say, more big problems... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
