[RC] Cell phones on the trail - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Bill Coburn endrider@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I too resisted getting a cell phone for a long time, especially since the early ones didn't seem to function in any place that I wanted to be. But, my wife and four adults children twisted my arm. Also, a freind pointed out that even if my phone didn't work in some canyon where I might be resting with a broken leg, it might be easier to crawl to the top on the nearest hill than all the way back to camp. I caved. I have Verizon service, and I'm happy to report that it worked quite well at the ridecamps of both "Run for the Gold" (Mariposa), and "Gold Country" (Georgetown). Fortunately I didn't have to test it at the bottom of some canyon! I think this new-fangled technology stuff may be a good thing.
