A good agent who knows your situation and advises accordingly is invaluable. Some years ago I was boarding a horse in a neighbor's pasture down the road. The horse accidentally stepped on his collie and broke his leg in three places. My homeowners insurance paid all bills in full...including lots of surgery for the dog's leg. IMHO, it's a waste of money to pay for homeowner's insurance that's "cheap" because of so many exclusions. A liability cap over ALL your insurance (mine is a million dollars) is not very expensive and well worth it. Depends on whether you're buying homeowner's insurance only because you "have to have it" for some reason or to really protect you.
