Re: [RC] Stallion question - Maggie MieskeWe keep our stallion with bred mares, during foaling and after foaling, only taking them out during heat cycles. We try to keep him with at least one bred mare all year....he is happier that way and a much better horse for it. He is also next to the rest of the herd. We also kept a young one in with all of the other horses....he never showed interest in the mares and acted totally mystified even when a mare backed up into his face. The following year, though we had NEVER seen him exhibit ANY breeding kinds of behavior...we had three foals by him. So, unless that is something you want to happen, take precautions now! :) Maggie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
