Garlinghouse, D.V.M.It doesn't happen to every horse, but just be aware that a significant number of horses react badly to the spot-on fly products, resulting in allergic reactions that go from a few hives up to a full blown crisis --- high fevers with subsequent laminitis, significant to extreme swelling of the head and airways, some mild colic symptoms and just plain miserable. I've treated a fair number of them and "they were okay with it last year" is a common thing to hear. Just something to add to the "forewarned is forearmed" category.
