I know my horse ended three 50-mile endurance races with mysterious hind-end
"stiffness" and we lost a completion on two of them, and it was labeled as
lameness. When I had an accupuncture vet look at him, she diagosed him 
with TMJ
problem instead. She said the tension in his poll was traveling all the 
way down
his topline, back and hind end. Once she did mechanial dental work (he had
dental work just 8 mo. previous by different vet), we have had no more
problems. I am a believer!
