[RC] RE:PEOPLE WHO POST BEFORE THEY KNOW THE FACTS(MOONLIGHTMADNESS) - Peter DeMott (937) 478-6222I saw no ill intentions or slamming with regard to the lights at the finish line post. The lines on the ground are also very interesting. At Hoosier Daddy Ride the ride manager was going to outsmart the people who maliciously pull down plates and streamer trail markers by using chalk spray on the ground in addition. I don't think that there were any serious problems, but it took many horses a couple ARROWS on the ground before they stopped spooking at them. Actually, I think that it worked out quite well, but it is instructive for the ride manager to warn people of the "very scary arrows" on the ground so they do not get caught off guard when they encounter the first or second one on trail. With regard to night riding and lights at the finish, perhaps the solution would be to make foil reflectors so that these lights only shine away from where the riders are coming from. This way the area would be illuminated for the officials-timers-etc., but there would be no direct light pointed toward the horses and riders with their eyes acclimated to the darkness.
