Re: [RC] PEOPLE WHO POST BEFORE THEY KNOW THE FACTS(MOONLIGHTMADNESS) - Becky Huffmanthe post didn't look like a slam to me, it looked like a well thought out post addressing a safety issue, I've certainly seen much worse from folks who've lost less from someone else's mistake. I think a lot of people wouldn't have handled it as graciously as Edie and Thomas. I've had similar problems at the finish line, although not at night, - I narrowly avoid a serious incident one year because someone at the finish line choose the moment of the race to unfold and refold their horses' cooler. -not malicious I'm sure, they were simply preparing to help the horse and rider, but my horse was understandably upset at someone standing (very) near the finish line, flapping a full sized sheet in the wind. it's something we all need to think about. I thought Katrina's post basically confirmed what Edie had said, along with some explanation. There were problems that necessitated her turning the lights on. - In the confusion and excitement of a race, it's hard to tell who said what when. I don't know what facts are being checked, what needs to be checked. there was a truck with lights on at the finish - different from the previous loops, and people moving around / talking? hollering - maybe/maybe not. .. in the dark outside the brilliant lights. That's all been addressed and agreed on as being a problem. We have another moonlight ride coming up next month, I think it was valid to post on the issue. RIGHT NOW THEY ARE CHECKING ALL THE FACTS.BUT I DO KNOW THAT THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON THAT WAS AT THE TRUCK AND SHE ONLY GOT OUT AFTER THE HORSES HAD PASSED.THE TRUCK WAS PARKED AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AWAY FROM THE HORSES AND DOWN THE TRAIL.THE REST THEY ARE CHECKING INTO.AN THAT THE FINISH LINE WAS ALWAYS SET AT THE SAME PLACE AND NOT CHANGED.WHEN THIS IS POSTED IF YOU WANT TO SLAM SOMEONE THEN SLAM ME.BUT NOT THE PEOPLE WHO PUT ON MOONLIGHT MADNESS. THOSE FOLKS TOOK A PLACE THAT HAD NO CAMP GROUND TO SPEAK OF. DECIDED TO SHOW OTHER HORSE FOLKS HOW BEAUTIFUL THAT COUNTRY CAN BE.WORK HARD TO PUT OUT WATER,CAMP GROUNDS,THEY HAD BOTTLED WATER FOR RIDERS AT CHECK SPOTS,WATERMELON FOR RIDERS AND HORSES AT THE VET CHECK IN. AND DID A GOOD JOB ON BREAKFAST.THEY HAND MADE MOST OF THE AWARDS AND DID THEIR BEST TO MAKE AND MEET EVERYONES NEEDS.(HORSES INCLUDED) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
