My 20 yo pony mare (a red roan, and also looked to
be part appy) had runny eyes for several years, much worse in the summer, but
even ran some thru the winter. Late last summer she started photonic head
bobbing - she would stand and bob her head, occassionally violently, from 8am
until dark. A fly mask didn't help much.
Thru the winter I started feeding her 1c of corn
oil a day. I was amazed, but her eyes stopped running completely (the head
bobbing stopped with winter). She has a new (wonderful) home now, but I
had her thru May this year and still no runny eyes, it was amazing!
I attribute the change to the addition of corn oil
to her diet. It is high in Vit A (good for eyes). She had
always gotten a few fresh carrots daily, but apparently that wasn't enough Vit A
to make a difference in her eyes.
