FW: [RC] Fly Masks at Night - Mike SherrellYears ago my vet answered this question by saying, leave them on and see if they get any dings on their faces. I put them on when fly season starts and only take them off when I ride. They mostly live in an apple orchard with many down-hanging branches, and face scratches are very rare, probably about as frequent as in winter when they wear no masks. There is one length of string that is tied over the poll and another that goes under the throat latch. Loose strings hang down from browband to about halfway down the nose. Usually we take them off at dusk, but sometimes someone forgets and leaves them on. These break very easily if they get hung up on something, and they are a bit hard to find if they come off, but they are insanely cheap. You can make your own in about an hour or so.
