Be careful your syringes don't have pointed tips.  I found some in my
camping supplies, I'm not sure where I bought them, that had a sharp pointed
'V' on one side of the tip instead of the usual blunt edge.  I went through
my box and had several like that.  It was a simple matter to blunt them with
a file, but I hated thinking I might have jabbed the horses in the palate or
tongue with it like that.
