[RC] Summer Solstice Ride Last Night - PAMELA LANIERI had the absolute best ride on my grey Arab last night. One of those rides where everything is just right! Started out at 8:00 pm with 4 other riders. Moon came up about 9:45 and it was beautiful! Temperature was around 70 degrees, no mosquitoes, whipporwills calling, and good riding partners. Don't get much better than that. I am planning on doing JD's moonlight ride in July so this was my test ride in the dark-I should say my longest one as I have been out maybe about 30 minutes or so before a few times as I would be coming in from the trails around the house. As we were headed back to the barn we had to go through a really dark trail and down thru a ditch that he really hates to negotiate in the daylight. I couldn't see anything. I just kept talking and singing a my favorite Johnny Cash song to him. He was a real trooper...never missed a step. We ended up doing a total of 15.5 miles and got back to the barn at 12:00. Loaded my boy in the trailer and was in my bed at 1:00. It just don't get much better than this. Am looking forward to the Moonlite ride in SC.
