[RC] Cooley Ranch /Chalk Rock - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jeanne Pepper pepperja@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I went to both of these and had great rides but VERY strange weather at each..to put it mildly !! The management all deserve medals. The REER group in Humboldt always put on really nice rides, very friendly people with a fun dinner & awards afterwards. This year we had a trick dog and Mike Witt(head vet) did "stand-up"comedy followed by a much needed camp fire. Temps were in the 40's-low 50's at times, almost raining(did rain at night).Ride won by Tony Benedetti who also got BC(lovely chestnut, don't know name) At Cooley I think nearly half the folks signed up did not start the ride.It poured nearly all night and the trail was sloppy in places but do-able.Still amazing views from the hills and only light rains during the day.It was dry at the vet checks and the sun peeked out every now & then to give us hope!Ron was having WAYYYYY too much fun with his tractor pulling rigs around. He never lost his smile and greeted riders as usual at the highest ridge top on his atv. We had a "coffee wagon"with lattes in the morning and good wine with dinner. I now have a photo of myself riding in my poncho ,dripping wet proving I am NOT made of sugar(didn't melt!) Oh yeh, there Was one fall but horse & rider were fine..now, about those outhouses???!! Thanks to all who helped with these rides. They were special!! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
