RE: [RC] AHA and Juniors at the national ride - mkrumlawHi Jim, Yes, I'm very familar with DBDR (most of the members got their start with our group). OAATS is pretty much the same type of club just a bit larger, the most significant difference being that OAATS is also the only recognized CTR Governing body that is also an AHA affilate. It's very easy to start your own club. You need to legally incorporate your club, create articles of incorporation, have 15 (may have changed with AHA vs. IAHA) full paid members, and you need to fill out an application for AHA and pay the fee ($200?), create the club by-laws. I think by the time everything was said and done it cost us around $700 (including legal fees charged for the incorporation paperwork.) We specifically included in our by-laws that although we are an AHA affiliate we are open to ALL breeds AND that we didn't have to exist as an AHA affiliate (gives us an out if they really make us mad). At first AHA didn't like that but I managed to convince them to get over it. Are you going to be at the Hooiser Daddy Ride? I'll be there and would be glad to talk you through it in person. It's a lot to type up in an email.
