RE: [RC] Freeform SB and Californios 100 FEI - Candace Kahn - Ranelle RubinI agree..When a good friend of mine Michel Bloch rode Joe on the AR 70 in a Freeform he bought from Steve Elliot, I was there at the finish to see a horse, who looked great! I felt his back with my own hands and absolutely not a tender spot or dry spot to be had! Does saying this make me evil? I hope not! I don't even have a Freeform, yet I am considering it. Steve has offered to meet me at the trailhead to try one out! Lighten up folks! You can ride in front or behind me..I don't bite! Considering all the talk about saddles lately, Candace's post about the saddle she sells being successfully used seemed reasonable to me.> Steph Steph and all......hearing information about a certain saddle being used on a 100 mile ride is extremely interesting to me. I wish more high-mileage endurance riders; and 100 milers would post regarding which saddles and tack they personally use and have success with. When I started the treeless yahoo group, I invited saddle manufacturers and distributors to post this type of information. Steve Elliot and Chris Martin, who are distributing the Freeform, are doing a whole lot of testing of the saddle, on their personal horses and rides; asking endurance riders also to test them; and posting info on how the saddle does. I don't see it as "bragging" or pushing their product at all; they are sharing useful information and also being open to constructive comments and feedback from customers; to help improve the items... When and if I go to choose a saddle, this is all very pertinent information; if a high number of people are successful with a certain brand of saddle it's very encouraging, versus another brand of saddle that perhaps makes all kind of claims about being the best or whatever, but then nobody has used on a multi day or long ride; then maybe I won't be the guinea pig on that brand of saddle.... Even though all horses are different and people have different preferences.....it's still all valuable info.
