[RC] great BLM unknown herds and the Joy song (long) - Barbara MoultonI vote for Little Owyhee HMA horses from Northern NV. Joy was a creampuff to train if you let her think things over and not just buy a roundpen and a video and expect to pull off a thirty minute wonder like her adopter did. I have been away almost a week setting up a horse camp and Joy was nuzzling all over my back while I picked out her hooves. It took me a minute to realize she was doing little circles just like a TTouch massage so I took the hint and gave her one back. Novice horsey people who want a mustang should be prepared to use ( and pay for)a pro if they need one and might want to consider adopting a penfoaled baby like Joy. (mustang once removed) My friend in OR Kathy Knowles a wild horse mentor just let her 14 year old daughter adopt a filly and the second day they had her home she could brush her and pick up front feet. Chickapoo is from the Beaty Butte herd adopted out of Burns. Here goes the Joy song to the tune of Jesus loves the little children Jesus loves the little mustangs- All the little mustangs in the world- Chestnut, bay and black and white- They are precious in His sight- Jesus loves the little mustangs of the world. Joy's mom ran wild in Nevada- Joy was born in Boise long ago (Boise wild horse corral pen 1997) She is smart and she is good- Bet you'd keep her if you could- She's the cutest little mustang that I know. Cowboy Scott was Joy's adopter- But he thought that she was dumb and mean- so he sold to me cheap- if he saw her now he'd weep- cuz she's lovely and she's gaited and she's mine. Now Joy wants to be a mommy- She and Wizard soon will have a date- but there's trouble up ahead- cuz they both share a trait I dread- (escaping any confined space) Their baby might break out of any fence or gate. I started this song verse 1 with Joy while she was at the trainer I took her to as soon as I bought her. Rose was really busy that spring so I just "helped out" by getting her used to being groomed, then bridled and saddled, then mounted and sat on, then riding her in her pen and the loading chute then I just opened the gate and rode out. Rose never did get a ride on her. Her husband and brother in law each did one short ride but that was it. March 26 2000 when I bought her you had to rope her to lay a hand on her. July 4th 2000 I took my first ride out of her small pen and in the big round pen.( English saddle to boot as it was the cheapest I could find) (ps could have happened much quicker if we didn't have to put about 200 lbs on her first) Watch out for the baby out of Surprised by Joy (mustang) and by Impressive Destiny (Destiny Arabians) on the LD rides in 2010. __________________________________ Discover Yahoo!
