Fw: Re: [RC] The old "drop and spin" arrghhh! - Jennifer FleetHi Kristen, Hey, good memory! Yes, I started him back on trail, oh...somewhere around Christmas, but they were only short rides because our trails were all so thrashed from the rains. We really started back to conditioning around the beginning of March. He pulled a few spooks here and there, but man...this last two weeks he's been terrible! It seems like it's escalating...before, he'd do that drop/spin thing maybe once every few rides...but then on Friday he did it a couple times, and then this last Monday, he did it three times...over really small stupid things (barking dog, squirrel, and horse tied to a bush)! I think he's developing a bad habit and now thinks that ANY spook is supposed to be a big spook. So, I'm not really sure if it's just him getting used to the outside world again....you'd think that he would have started off this bad back in March and progressively gotten better, not worse, if that's all it was. I don't know. I'm still not sure whether to punish him for it or not. Thanks though....you may still be right...maybe i'm asking too much too soon....but it's not like he's a youngster..he's 11 years old with plenty of experience under his horsey-belt! :) Jennifer -----Original Message----- From: Kristen A Fisher <kskf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Jun 1, 2005 2:37 PM To: Jennifer Fleet <jlthompson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [RC] The old "drop and spin" arrghhh! Jennifer - Didn't he just come off a long stall confinement for something you finally got diagnosed at a specialist vet hospital [vague memory from way back when...] Maybe he is just getting reacquainted with the outside world since he has been away from it for so long?
