RE: [RC] [RC] White hairs and saddle pad question - Patsy Davis

I like this idea, if it wouldn't make it too thick.  You are right, it is not very thick and I was wondering if that could be the problem.  Being a Reinsman, it does have a wool top and felt in the middle.  Thanks,  Patsy

I use a tachy tack too -- but a vet told me after a 4 hr ride, that it's a
bit thin.... may want to add a pad. --- So what I do now is, use my own
insert pads. I cut a western wool down to fit my saddle and added pockets
with a spinal channel, that has a velcro opening, and I cut up a "conformer
" pad and a backpacking foam pad and made panels, to put in the pad. This
pad is not real thick all over, yet it has panels where I need them. I put
this over my tacky tack-- so it is still easy clean . He seems 'happier"
with this arrangement. You may just need to add a wool pad or banket too
it. Not neciesarily real thick , just more cushion.

When you ride a mule, getting there is all the fun!!
