RE: [RC] grain founder - Susan E. Garlinghouse, D.V.M.Yes, DMSO is very effective, but you can't administer it yourself, a vet has to do it diluted IV or via nasogastric tube. Don't waste time screwing around trying to. Just curious why not. As one who has used gallons of DMSO over the years for various sorts of inflamatory processes, although I prefer to give it IV, it goes down just fine as a drench diluted about 50-50. Some of my clients were quite adept at doing so. And if they're not adept, now's not the time to learn. DMSO down the trachea and into the lungs wouldn't be my first choice. I once questioned a very noted professor about un- or minimally diluted DMSO's effect on esophageal tissue and his opinion was it was too rough less than 20% dilution. So that's what I drench at (IV it goes at no more than 10%) and to get 250 ml of DMSO diluted to 20% is a lot of liquid to trying drenching. Rather see the horse get onto a trailer and on its way to K State. sug =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
