Re: [RC] re: brand inspections - Truman PrevattThat's not quite true. If your state doesn't have a brand inspection requirement - then another state cannot force one on you just the same if one does not require license plates on horse trailers - no other state can fine you for not having license plates. What they will do (and this is what happened in MT when we were there) is require to be able to prove ownership of your horse. They will accept Coggins, health papers or in some cases registration papers. On the other hand if your home state has brand inspection requirements another state can demand to see it. Truman Cindy Collins wrote: All the mountain west states require a brand inspection and they "don't care" if your state doesn't have them. They expect you to have one before you cross the border or arrange to get one at the border. Ask some of the 2001 XPers about needing a brand inspection in Wyoming. The brand inspectors are really serious about this and have a limited sense of humor. They can impound your horse and fine you. Don't mean to sound negative, but don't want you to be surprised.
