Re: [RC] Suicide race - heidiLooking at the web page for the Stampede and rodeo, I found a sponsor list. I'd think that if one really wanted to "do something", that letting the sponsors know you are displeased with them supporting such an event would do more than complaining to organizers. This event has been going on since 1935, and has strong foot holds in the community, especially the local Colville Tribe. You can find a bunch of info on line about it. Anyway, here are a few links. Jonni, you are right--well-thought-out letters to sponsors are likely the best leverage to stop this sort of thing. Keep in mind that this is just one event of the Omak Stampede, and that the sponsors are sponsoring the entire event. The best approach would probably be to not knock the rest of the rodeo, but to ask corporate sponsors if they are aware of what happens in this one event. That gives them some options. It is interesting to note that many of the "local" sponsors are part of larger business chains, and I would suspect that letters to their corporate headquarters might do as much or more than letters to their local outlets.
